Tokyo, Japan – A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck off the southern coast of Japan on Thursday, prompting a tsunami advisory for the region.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warned of potential tsunami waves up to 3.3 feet along the southern coast of Kyushu and the nearby island of Shikoku.
While there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage, authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
Japan is located in one of the world's most seismically active regions, making it susceptible to earthquakes and tsunamis.
