The U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) announced today that Gregg Berhalter has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT), effective immediately. "I want to thank Gregg for his hard work and dedication to U.S. Soccer and our Men's National Team," said U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone in a statement. "[USSF is] now focused on working with our Sporting Director Matt Crocker and leveraging his experience to ensure we find the right person to lead the USMNT into a new era of on-field success."                                                                                          G                                                                                             Berhalter's departure comes after the USMNT's disappointing performance at the 2024 Copa América, where they were shockingly eliminated in the group stage as the host nation. This follows a successful World Cup qualifying campaign and a Round of 16 finish at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. During his tenure, Berhalter also led the team to victories in the 2019-20 and 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League and the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. He finished his time with the USMNT with a record of 44 wins, 17 losses, and 13 draws in 74 matches. USSF Sporting Director Matt Crocker will lead the search for Berhalter's replacement.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         "We are deeply grateful to Gregg for his commitment the past five years," said Crocker. "He has played a pivotal role in bringing together a young team and moving the program forward. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors." The focus for US Soccer now shifts to finding a new coach who can lead the team to success on the world stage, particularly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico on the horizon.
